Everything you need to know about Folke® — from foam to fabric to your front door.

1. THE BASICS

WHAT IS FOLKE®? A modular sofa without a hard frame. It arrives in boxes, takes a few minutes to set up, and can be rearranged as your needs change. Instead of replacing your sofa, you adjust it.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT? Four things: modular (rearrange anytime), frameless (easy to move), tool-free (no screws), and upgradeable (replace parts, not the whole sofa).

HOW DOES THE MODULAR SYSTEM WORK? Start with a simple setup. Expand later. Change layouts whenever. Every module fits every other module.

2. ORDERING & PAYMENT

HOW DO I PLACE AN ORDER? Add your chosen configuration to the cart and proceed to checkout. We accept Visa, Mastercard, MobilePay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, and PayPal.

CAN I CHANGE OR CANCEL MY ORDER? Email us at cn@folkefurniture.com as soon as possible. We can make changes if production or shipment hasn’t started yet.

CAN I ORDER FREE COLOUR SAMPLES BEFORE I BUY? Yes. Order free swatches →. Ships within 3–5 business days. One sample set per household.

3. DELIVERY & SHIPPING

WHERE DO YOU DELIVER? Across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, and select European countries, plus the United States. Full list on our Shipping & Delivery page.

HOW LONG DOES DELIVERY TAKE? Denmark: 3–5 business days. Sweden & Norway: 5–8 days. Rest of EU: 5–10 days. Eastern Europe: 7–12 days. US: 10–15 days. You’ll get a tracking link by email once your order ships.

HOW IS IT DELIVERED? By parcel post, not freight. Compact boxes that fit through any door, any staircase, any lift. No special delivery arrangements. No conversation about whether it’ll fit.

WHY DOES IT SHIP IN BOXES? Lower transport volume. Easier to carry. Up to 6× lower shipping CO₂ than freight.

4. ASSEMBLY

DO I NEED TOOLS? No. No screwdrivers, no allen keys, no instructions to lose.

HOW LONG DOES ASSEMBLY TAKE? Under 1 minute per module. Open the box. Let the foam expand. Zip the cover on. Done.

CAN I RECONFIGURE AFTER ASSEMBLY? Yes. That’s the whole point. Take it apart and rebuild it any time.

WILL THE MODULES SLIDE APART WHEN I SIT ON THEM? No. Each module has a high-friction base. Your own weight increases the friction the moment you sit down — so the sofa becomes more stable in use, not less.

5. FOAM

WHAT FOAM DO YOU USE? A high-resilience polyurethane foam (Formvik™ Foam) developed for long-term comfort.

Density: 33–38.5 kg/m³ — keeps shape over time

Resilience: ≥42% — balanced softness and support

Compression set: ≤5% — minimal long-term sagging

It feels consistent day after day, not just when it’s new.

IS THE FOAM SAFE FOR EVERYDAY USE — INCLUDING CHILDREN? Yes. Certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Product Class I — the strictest category, used for products intended for babies. Tested for harmful substances and considered safe for close, prolonged contact with skin.

HOW IS THE FOAM TESTED? Independently tested and compliant with: ISO 8124-6 (phthalates), ISO/TS 16179 (organotin), Europur (residual amines), REACH (no SVHC > 0.1%), ISO 16000 (VOC). TÜV-tested. Made without flame retardants, halogenated compounds, or restricted plasticisers.

6. FABRIC

WHAT FABRIC DO YOU USE? Cura upholstery fabric by Gabriel — a Danish textile manufacturer with over 170 years of experience. Cura is built for environments where furniture is used every day.

WHAT IS IT MADE OF? 100% post-consumer recycled polyester, made from used plastic bottles that would otherwise have gone to landfill. The bottles are shredded, melted, extruded into yarn, and spun into fabric. GRS certified (Global Recycle Standard) for traceability.

HOW DURABLE IS IT? Tested to 100,000 Martindale cycles. That’s contract-grade — the same category used in offices, hotels, and public spaces. Built for intensive daily use.

WHAT CERTIFICATIONS DOES IT MEET? OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, EU Ecolabel, and produced under ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environmental management).

CAN THE COVERS BE REMOVED AND WASHED? Yes. Zip them off, wash at 30°C max, air dry. Don’t tumble dry.

HOW LONG DO THE COVERS LAST? We back the fabric with a 10-year commercial guarantee for normal household use. Full guarantee terms on our Returns & Refunds page.

7. SUSTAINABILITY

WHAT MAKES FOLKE® SUSTAINABLE? Durable materials. Replaceable parts. Modular design. Longer product lifespan.

WHY FLAT-PACK? Flat-pack reduces shipping volume — up to 6× lower CO₂ per delivered sofa compared to traditional freight. Fewer trucks. Less weight on the planet.

CAN IT BE REPAIRED? Yes. Built for disassembly. Parts can be replaced. Modules can be swapped. Spare parts (covers, components) available.

8. RETURNS & WARRANTY

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY? 30-day right of return from the date of delivery — 16 days longer than the statutory 14-day EU minimum. Full details on our Returns & Refunds page.

WHAT IS THE WARRANTY?

2-year EU statutory warranty on manufacturing and material defects.

10-year commercial guarantee on fabric for normal household use (covers premature wear, pilling, seam failure — doesn’t cover misuse, pets, sharp objects, or contract use).

WHAT IF A MODULE IS DAMAGED ON ARRIVAL? Take photos. Email cn@folkefurniture.com within 48 hours. We arrange a replacement module.

9. CARE & CLEANING

HOW DO I CLEAN MY FOLKE® SOFA? Most spills come off with cool water and a mild detergent. Cover off, wash at 30°C, air dry. For details, see our Cleaning & Maintenance guide.

ARE THE COVERS REPLACEABLE? Yes. Order a new cover any time — same fabric range, full cross-compatibility.

10. THE MODULAR SYSTEM

CAN I ADD MODULES LATER? Absolutely. Every Folke® module is cross-compatible across the whole system. Start small and expand whenever your space or household changes.

CAN I MIX MODULES ORDERED AT DIFFERENT TIMES? Yes. All modules share the same fabric range — your setup stays consistent.

WHAT ARE THE MODULE DIMENSIONS? Each module: 103 × 103 × 40 cm (W × D × H). Seat depth 70 cm, seat height 40 cm. The 2-seater sofa-bed unfolds to a 206 × 103 cm sleeping surface.
