Cleaning & Maintenance

Cleaning & Maintenance

Keep your Folke looking and feeling its best. Here's how.

1. COVER FABRIC

Regular care

  • Vacuum the fabric lightly with an upholstery attachment once a week to remove dust and debris.
  • Brush off loose dirt with a soft, dry cloth before it settles into the fibres.

Spot cleaning

  • Act quickly on spills — blot (don't rub) with a clean, absorbent cloth.
  • For light stains, use a damp cloth with a small amount of mild soap. Work from the outside of the stain inward.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or solvent-based cleaners.

Removing and washing covers

  • All module covers can be unzipped and removed for washing.
  • Machine wash at max 30°C, inside out and zipped up.
  • Don't tumble dry — air dry flat or hang to dry.
  • Don't iron directly on the fabric.
  • Don't dry clean.

2. FOAM CORES (FORMVIK™ FOAM)

  • Don't wash, submerge, or machine wash foam cores under any circumstances.
  • For spills that get through the cover, blot gently with a dry towel and let it air dry completely in a well-ventilated space before re-covering.
  • Keep foam away from direct prolonged sunlight, which can affect material properties over time.

3. MODULE CONNECTORS & STRUCTURE

  • The tool-free connector system needs no maintenance under normal use.
  • If a connector feels stiff after reconfiguration, align the module straight-on before pressing together — don't force at an angle.
  • Wipe connector surfaces with a dry cloth if dirt accumulates.

4. GENERAL TIPS

  • Rotate cushions and modules every so often to spread wear evenly.
  • Don't sit repeatedly on the very edges of modules — it causes uneven compression over time.
  • Keep away from heat sources (radiators, fireplaces) and direct prolonged sunlight.
  • For homes with pets: we recommend a cover protector or throw for high-traffic areas.
